The supercomputer Lobo Carneiro, from the Advanced Center of High Performance Computer Science (Núcleo Avançado de Computação de Alto Desempenho – Nacad) started to operate on July 13, at UFRJ Science Park. Located in the Laboratory of Computational Methods (Laboratório de Métodos Computacionais – Lamce) from Coppe/UFRJ, the equipment, one of the most powerful in the country, will play an important role in different research areas, such as engineering, oil prospecting, biotechnology and studies on climate changes. The supercomputer can be used by researchers from the University as well as from the R&D centers of the companies located in the Park.
