From May to July, 2017, 25 teams of entrepreneurs will participate in the Lean Startup Program, a project which aims at qualifying startups as well as training a group of instructors from Rio de Janeiro’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, utilizing an innovative methodology. This is the first edition of the program in Rio, and it will last for seven weeks. The first week, from April 18 to 24, will consist of live classes, followed by five weeks of virtual interaction and finally again live classes during the last week. The program will be conducted by the University of California, Berkeley in a partnership with Alumni COPPEAD, the alumni association of COPPEAD School of Administration and it will be supported by the UFRJ Science Park. The teams will have at their disposal a group of professors and instructors from Berkeley, as well as a group of mentors composed of former Coppead students who are currently occupying outstanding positions in the job market. The Lean methodology aims at improving the transition from science to market through the use of efficient and scalable business models.
